Why was Reach Out for Schools formed?
The organizers of Reach Out for Schools believe that the future of our communities and country depend on the successful education of our children. The groundwork is laid in our schools, but our schools are often lacking in resources they need to succeed. We believe that we can help best by getting resources to the classrooms.
Why does Reach Out for Schools have members?
The organizers chose a membership form of organization to (1) develop a long-term source of funds to support our efforts, (2) develop a potential pool of volunteers to further organization activities, and to (3) minimize the cost of raising funds.
Why does Reach Out for Schools work with Adopt-A-Classroom and Donors Choose?
The average teacher spends up to $1,000 a year, of their own money, for classroom supplies. Adopt-A-Classroom and Donors Choose were set up to relieve teachers of some of that burden. The full amount of the donations go to support each project and class we adopt. We also provide some independent support to school programs.
How does Reach Out for Schools decide which schools to help?
Based on the funds available, the Board selects classrooms, projects and programs in communities where our members reside. Recommendations are also welcome from our members.
Where does the money go?
Virtually all money we receive goes directly to support schools, school programs and education. We can do this because we have no paid employees. Also, most of the business services and supplies we need to support our operations are provided without cost to us by our business supporters and volunteers. We hope to be able to operate in this way for the foreseeable future.
